Position Overview
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of all projects within the company’s portfolio, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic goals. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the GM provides leadership and governance to Project Managers, ensuring adherence to time, cost, and quality requirements. The GM plays a pivotal role in business operations, risk mitigation, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive company success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Oversight & Project Governance
Provide leadership to ensure all projects adhere to defined strategic goals.
Ensure PMs and their teams maintain alignment with business objectives.
Monitor overall portfolio performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Establish and oversee governance structures to maintain accountability and efficiency.
Ensure adherence to Project Management Methodology and Frameworks across all projects.
Cost, Quality & Schedule Accountability
Drive cost control measures to ensure project profitability.
Oversee project delivery timelines and intervene where necessary to maintain adherence.
Ensure the highest quality standards are met across all projects.
Maintain an overview of financial performance, including budget adherence and cost efficiency.
Leadership & Performance Management
Directly manage and mentor PMs to ensure optimal project execution.
Assign PMs to projects, ensuring capacity planning aligns with business needs.
Oversee professional development initiatives to enhance PM capabilities.
Establish performance frameworks and track the effectiveness of PMs and PCs.
Risk & Issue Management
Provide a high-level risk management framework for all projects.
Ensure timely identification and mitigation of key project risks.
Oversee resolution of escalated issues from PMs.
Maintain a strategic risk register and ensure proactive risk reduction strategies are in place.
Stakeholder & Client Management
Act as the primary escalation point for major client concerns.
Maintain and enhance relationships with key clients, ensuring long-term partnerships.
Work closely with BDM to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and project obligations.
Oversee subcontractor performance and intervention when necessary.
Reporting & Compliance
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all reporting across project teams.
Review and approve weekly portfolio performance reports presented by PMs.
Work with COO to ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights.
