Afterhours Support Worker
Lives Lived Well
Posted 9 days ago
We know you give so much. What if you joined an organisation that’s as passionate about the possibilities for YOU as we are for those we support?
At Lives Lived Well, we’ve been treating and supporting people whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drugs for over 50 years. We also support people with mental health and gambling concerns and those transitioning from correctional centres. We’re growing fast and building a reputation as a trusted, innovative provider, focused on clinical excellence… and we’d love you to be part of it.
If you share our belief in recovery, think in a curious and critical way, and thrive on learning and change, join us, and do your best work here!
Your opportunity
Working as a Casual Support Worker at our Mirikai Residential Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centre, you’ll provide support and supervision to clients undertaking the six-week treatment program. This role includes sleepover shifts, so the applicant must be comfortable working alone overnight and must have open availability.
What does this mean?
Well you’ll help to keep our clients emotionally safe while supporting and monitoring activities of the program. You’ll assist with medications, support guided meditations, and provide general help and support to clients during the day.
This is a role that has a big impact. You’ll witness the hard work our clients put in to change their lives for the better, helping them to learn new skills, to adapt and to set goals and achieve them. You’ll get experience straight up and hands on - of the work, the clients and what it takes to build a successful and rewarding career. All while being supported and guided by a team of humble humans who really care.
You’ll know that you’re leaving a positive wake when:
- You’re able to manage the structured activities of the program during the evenings and ensure smooth hand over to the daytime staff.
- You’ve built positive relationships with your clients, enabling them to stick to the program and make positive change in their lives.
- You’re able to navigate the challenges of new situations, creating solutions and adapting on the spot.
What you’ll bring
In terms of the role itself, it’s not as much about the technical expertise nor the number of degrees you have, it’s about who you are as a person and what you bring:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs or related discipline
- Valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- You’ll need to know how to set and maintain good boundaries - with clients, colleagues, and yourself. What we do isn’t always easy, so taking care of yourself is most important!
- You’ll be comfortable working to a structure but have the capacity to be flexible and navigate the unexpected.
- You’ll be able to think on your feet, problem solve and handle pressure.
- You’ll have a genuine desire to support people in making a positive difference to their lives.
- You’ll be reliable, resilient, persistent and non-judgmental.
And importantly, you’ll live and breathe our values, which means:
- You are humble, human and full of hope.
- You show up and share.
- You ask: Why not? And what’s next?
- You leave a positive wake.
Why? We believe that, through these values, we do our best work - for each other, for clients, and for the communities we work in. And it’s a promise we make to you about the kind of experience you will have working for us.
Why work for Lives Lived Well?
You’ll love working with talented people who share our values. Our services and treatments are as diverse as the communities we work in. And we’ve grown significantly in the past few years, with no plans of slowing down.
So, what does that mean for you? A real opportunity to go further!
- You’ll grow as a person and as a professional, extending your knowledge and skills beyond the norm.
- You’ll be trusted with autonomy in a supportive, respectful environment.
- You’ll make a lasting impact - on clients, the community and a team that cares as much as you.
