About This Opportunity

The Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of information technology projects at the University of Queensland. Working autonomously at a senior level, the role involves translating business needs into effective technology solutions by engaging collaboratively with subject matter experts, solution teams, and project managers. You'll join a highly collaborative environment, working across technical and business teams to support continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the analysis of business processes and translating complex business requirements into clear system specifications.
  • Facilitating workshops with stakeholders at various levels to uncover requirements and shape process design.
  • Collaborating with solution architects, developers, and project managers to support full information technology project lifecycle delivery.
  • Defining Agile stories and epics, and supporting solution testing, documentation, and change management activities.

About You
  • Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards) in IT or a related field, combined with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in business analysis, including requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, solution design, and delivery prioritisation across complex environments.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with a proven ability to identify innovative solutions and implement initiatives within defined frameworks.
  • Proficiency in designing IT solutions and developing process mapping (as-is/to-be), data flows, and systems documentation aligned with industry standards.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear user documentation, technical specifications, test cases, and training materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, including writing detailed stories and epics with acceptance criteria in collaboration with product owners and developers; familiarity with Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA) is desirable.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise workload independently, meet deadlines, and contribute to broader project delivery requirements.
