The Opportunity

We are seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Marine Officer Pool.

As a Marine Officer, you will be at the frontline of maritime safety and compliance. You’ll enforce marine legislation, educate the public on safe boating practices and respond to maritime incidents. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a real impact.

A requirement of this position is to work regular and varying shifts including weekends and public holidays. Additionally, as a part of our regional assistance patrol schedule, you will be required to work short periods (5-10 days) in various regional locations at least once a year.

There are currently the following positions available for immediate filling:

  • 3 x permanent positions
  • 3 x fixed term positions with possibility of extension and/or permanency.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 24 months from date of first appointment across the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure.

  • Please outline your knowledge and experience in relation to recreational and commercial vessel legislation, your response should demonstrate your understanding of how this legislation applies in WA, particularly in relation to safety, compliance, and waterways safety management

  1. Copy of your Marine Certificate of Competency (Coxswain’s Grade 1) if relevant.
  2. Copy of your current, valid Western Australian ‘C’ class driving licence.
