About the Division

The purpose of the Disability division (the Division) is to protect, uphold and advance the rights of people with disability living in Western Australia (WA). The Division provides sector stewardship and strategic policy advice to inform disability matters between State and Commonwealth systems and drive the development of contemporary practices and sector innovation.

The Division is also responsible for critical services, strategic projects, negotiations, and reforms across the ministerial portfolio areas of disability services. It aims to support and achieve better outcomes for all people living with disability, ensuring substantive equality for all and that everyone can participate in their communities.

The Opportunity

As a Policy Support Officer, you will support the development of strategies and policies which build safe, strong, and secure communities in the areas of disability services.

With your experience in supporting projects, you will think strategically to undertake research and analysis to assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, strategies, and frameworks.

You will also be responsible for supporting and contributing to the preparation of reports, briefing notes, correspondence and other written material relevant to the Disability division for a wide audience, including Parliament, Ministers, the Director General, and the Assistant Director General.

This position will be based at the Department of Communities’ (Communities) new, purpose-built offices in Walyalup Koort, Fremantle.

There is currently one fixed term position available for immediate filling for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension.
