About the role

Are you interested in variety and a hands on role that make a difference to the community you live in?

The Community Work Officer (CWO) works with designated adult offenders subject to community work obligations of Orders issued by the sentencing and releasing authorities. The CWO works with the aim of ensuring that the offenders in their care satisfy the requirements of their community work obligations according to legislation and Departmental policy through providing reparation to the community, and by giving offenders an opportunity to develop new skills and thus contribute to their rehabilitation. We are looking for individuals who undertake their work with a focus on the health and safety of themselves and others that they are responsible for.

Community programs vary widely and can range from outdoor work programs such as parks and garden maintenance to indoor programs such as art creation.

The role includes building community partnerships with a wide variety of government and non-government organisations to develop and manage suitable community work programs for adult offenders. The position may involve weekend work (penalty rates apply) dependant on the location.
