The Role
The Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO) is seeking to fill two EL 1 positions:
Artificial Intelligence Governance Manager: We are seeking a highly motivated person to drive the responsible development, deployment and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in AGO. You will be responsible for maintaining the AGO’s AI Governance Framework and promoting responsible use of AGO's AI capabilities.
Industry Engagement Manager: We are seeking a strong communicator to lead AGO’s industry engagement strategy, and develop industry partnerships to advance the Geospatial-Intelligence (GEOINT) mission. You will engage with Australian and international companies, developing new relationships and managing established relationships. You will also support senior AGO attendance at industry events in Australia and internationally. You will engage with all AGO branches to understand AGO’s requirements and evaluate a broad range of commercial Geospatial Intelligence capabilities.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
The Data Innovation and Analytics Directorate (DIAD) is a team of highly motivated data specialists who provide analytical support to AGO’s intelligence and production areas through the application of data science and machine analytics. We drive AI awareness, uptake and governance across the organisation to ensure AI is used responsibly and in accordance with policy and legislative requirements.
The Industry Mission Support team leads AGO’s industry engagement strategy. We engage with industry to identify opportunities for commercial solutions in support of AGO’s mission priorities. The GEOINT business is growing rapidly and commercial offerings continue to evolve. To harness some of the most cutting-edge developments in the commercial sector, we are putting in place the mechanisms to create partnerships to advance the GEOINT mission. Our team also supports senior AGO attendance at industry events in Australia and internationally.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidates will be highly motivated with excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences. They will have, or demonstrate the ability to acquire quickly, a sound understanding of intelligence capabilities and analytical techniques.
They will be able to work both individually and as part of a team to build and maintain productive working relations with diverse stakeholders. They will be resilient problem solvers able to engage with ambiguity, and are able to harness collective knowledge to optimise outcomes.
