The Role
We have multiple positions for a range of data and collection related skills across a number of teams.
Roles include:
- Supporting the development and implementation of geospatial standards, and representing Defence interests at GEOINT standards committees and working groups.
- Leading a small team managing enterprise data systems and flows to enable efficient access to AGO’s data. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, exploring innovative data access mechanisms and system enhancements. Providing timely and accurate advice, communicating technical issues affecting data mobility between networks, ensuring correct security protocols and processes are applied.
- Leading a small team to support AGO’s space-based and intelligence collection operations, including developing and implementing complex satellite imagery collection strategies, and driving collection capability innovation to support the successful introduction into service of new remote sensing capabilities.
- Engaging with AGO stakeholders, and evaluating commercial Geospatial Intelligence capabilities, to support the development and implementation of AGO’s industry engagement framework. Supporting senior executives’ industry engagements.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. The Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO) is the lead agency for geospatial data, information, and intelligence, also known as geospatial-intelligence (GEOINT) for Defence and government. Our Ideal Candidate
Successful candidates will be highly motivated, have strong oral and communication skills, with a general knowledge of geospatial data applications and space-based sensing capabilities. They will be able to build and maintain productive working relationships with diverse stakeholders, and have experience managing small teams.
Candidates for our collection directorates will have a keen interest in space-based capabilities, satellite imagery collection and/or intelligence collection, and have the aptitude to learn specialised aspects of space-based imagery collection.
GEOINT Data Office candidates will have experience managing preferably spatial data across large organisations.
They will be resilient problem solvers, willing to innovate and harness collective knowledge to optimise outcomes.
Candidates for Industry Mission Support will have excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, and are able to coordinate Senior Executive industry engagements and conference attendance. They will have the ability to acquire a sound understanding of intelligence capabilities and a demonstrated ability to align strategies with mission needs.
