Estimator – Join a Growing, Client-Focused Building and Maintenance Company on the Gold Coast

Are you a building professional with hands-on experience and a sharp eye for detail? We’re looking for a full-time Estimator to join General Building Co. in a unique and rewarding role. This isn’t a traditional estimating position - it’s a practical, on-the-ground quoting role for a variety of small to mid-sized residential projects as well as residential and commercial maintenance works.

About the Role

As our Estimator, you’ll scope and prepare accurate quotes for a broad range of building projects, including small to mid-sized residential renovations and extensions, as well as residential and commercial maintenance and repair works. You’ll attend site visits, liaise directly with clients, and prepare professional quotes using digital tools and quoting software.

This is a front-end quoting role where you'll be the first face-to-face point of contact with our clients. You'll play a key role in representing General Building Co. at the initial site meeting, gathering accurate scope details, and instilling confidence in our services. Your practical building knowledge will be essential in assessing the works required, liaising with clients, and preparing clear, well-considered quotes that reflect both the project scope and GBC’s high standards.

Once a quote is approved, you’ll coordinate the handover of the job to our site supervisor, who will then manage and execute the works.

Key Responsibilities

Attend site visits to assess project scope and gather relevant details

Represent the company professionally at initial site meetings

Communicate directly with clients, trades, and the internal team to clarify requirements

Foster strong working relationships with both clients and trade partners

Work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Use quoting software and systems to prepare accurate and timely quotes

Format and submit clear, professional quotes aligned with GBC standards

Liaise with our site supervisor to ensure a smooth job handover after quote approval

Support ongoing improvements to our quoting processes and documentation

Who We Are Looking For – The Ideal Candidate

Trade qualified (preferably carpentry)

Demonstrated background in quoting residential and/or maintenance projects

Strong understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC), QBCC compliance requirements, and WHS obligations relevant to Queensland projects.

Proven experience in the building industry, particularly in small to mid-sized renovation and maintenance work

Confident scoping and quoting work without full design documentation

Strong communicator with a down-to-earth attitude and approachable manner

Open to feedback, humble, and willing to learn

Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage your own time effectively day-to-day

Comfortable using quoting software and technology to streamline processes

A collaborative team player who fits well within a values-based business

Salary & Benefits

💰 Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 per annum (based on experience and capability)
