SAP Payroll Lead

  • Clerk Grade11/12
  • 12-month Full-Time Temporary with the possibility of extension
  • Parramatta location with hybrid working - weekly attendance required
  • This role sits in the Business Operations team within Government Shared Services

About the team

This newly established team's purpose is to support the delivery of the strategic roadmap to consolidate and harmonise shared services operations and systems across the NSW public sector.

Involving the consolidation of ERP systems and processes, IT service and incident management and travel and expense management, the program will lead to a better employee experience and enable more efficient sector mobility. Additionally, common, streamlined and efficient processes will allow our people to better focus on our customers.

About the role

The SAP Payroll Lead will manage the accurate and efficient processing and maintenance of the payroll function, including managing the relationship between the Organisation and the outsourced service provider to ensure that payroll and related services are delivered to within agreed service levels and performance standards.

This role will see you:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the payroll team including the implementation of operational changes, audit recommendations, and refining internal controls to ensure payroll services are delivered on time and to expected standards
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of changes and enhancements to payroll processes, policies, and procedures, to support continuous improvement, effective and efficient service delivery and a positive customer experience
  • Manage reconciliations and other controls of the payroll posting on a scheduled basis, including pay, employee leave provisions, superannuation, PAYG, payroll-related vendor records and other related payroll balance sheet accounts to drive accurate payroll administration and related services leading the design and implementation of changes and enhancements to payroll processes
  • Design and implement processes to drive effective taxation, separation processing and accurate and timely processing of superannuation payments by outsourced service providers in accordance with legislation, ATO specifications and standards to ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of services on time and to expected standards
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders regarding entitlements and changes to payroll operations and outcomes to facilitate effective and accurate communication to impacted employees
  • Undertake analysis and provide timely, expert information, advice and reports on payroll financial information to key internal and external stakeholders to inform decision making
  • Facilitate the regular review of payroll files, change requests, as well as the management of system upgrades, including maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, such as outsourced providers and banking organisations to ensure continuous and accurate service delivery
  • Lead and drive team management, work planning coaching and professional development initiatives to align resources to deliver on time, high quality, efficient services and a positive customer experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Substantial knowledge of and extensive experience in delivering payroll and related accounting functions in large and complex organisations
  • Apply a thorough understanding of recurrent and capital financial terminology, policies and processes to planning, forecasting and budget preparation and management
  • Monitor and identify opportunities to enhance financial system capabilities to support finance functions

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $149,739 base plus superannuation
