TasBuild Limited is responsible for the administration of the Construction Industry (Long Service) Act 1997, providing portable long service entitlements for workers in the construction industry.

An exciting position has become available for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to join our small team in the role of Compliance Officer on a Full Time basis.

About the role

As the Compliance Officer at TasBuild Limited, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's compliance program to ensure industry obligations are being met. This position, based in Hobart, will see you overseeing all aspects of the company's compliance function, from enforcement and education to investigation and identification of non-compliant employers.

What you'll be doing

Developing and implementing an annual compliance work plan to support overall business objectives

Ensuring employer compliance with all relevant long service leave obligations and reporting requirements

Generate reports from the Australian Business Register to assist in the identification of Tasmanian construction businesses

Education of employers and workers of their obligations and entitlements under the Act

Assisting in the investigation of claims of unrecorded service

Performing compliance checks to assist Treasury during Government procurement processes

Undertake or support projects to assist TasBuild to achieve its strategic objectives

Monthly reporting of activity to the CEO

What we're looking for

The ability to develop a strong knowledge and understanding of the governing legislation and TasBuild Rules

A sound knowledge of the construction industry and industry work practices

Sound knowledge of industrial agreements and awards or the capacity to gains such knowledge

High-level written and oral communication skills and experience in dealing with a range of stakeholders

Strong experience in using and maintaining CRM databases and using MS Office applications

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information to stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to work in a small team environment and perform to a high level whilst working independently

Willingness to travel to various sites around the State which may require overnight stays.

A current unrestricted driver's licence is essential, a White Card would be desirable and a Police check will need to be provided.
