Established in 1998, the Brain Injury Association of Tasmania (BIAT) provides a public voice for all Tasmanians impacted by brain injury. It is a non-government, state-wide, not-for-profit organisation recognised as having specialist knowledge of brain injury and its effects on individuals, families and communities.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The About Me Project is a capacity building program that supports people living with brain injury, and other disabilities. The Project activities work to build participants' insight, capacity and confidence through the delivery of modules with a 10-step process.
About Me supports participants to communicate decisions and choices, and exercise their human rights, including through optionally recording a personalised “About me” video.
The About Me Project is funded by the Motor Accident Insurance Board (Tasmania).
POSITION SUMMARY
The About Me Project Officer is responsible for delivering and supporting the implementation of the About Me program. The role involves engaging with participants, facilitating sessions both in person and online, coordinating the development of participant videos, and contributing to program development through co-design and consultation. The Project Officer builds and maintains strong stakeholder relationships, ensures timely and accurate data collection and reporting, and supports related programs. The role requires strong communication, planning and organisational skills, and a commitment to inclusive, person-centred practice.
KEY DUTIES
Deliver the About Me program activities and materials to participants, including facilitating sessions online, as well as face to face (locally or with intrastate travel), and filming and editing About Me films (where required).
Work to maximise the positive outcomes for participants by delivering capacity building activities and engaging other services to provide ongoing supports.
Facilitate and support About Me Project deliverables, including through the development and maintenance of key project documents and program resources, and the recording, evaluation and reporting of data.
Develop positive relationships and maintain ongoing networks with diverse stakeholders including people with lived experience of disability, their family members and carers, support services, businesses and community groups, and others
Under the direction of the Project Manager, undertake further About Me program development, including:
planning and facilitating consultations and co-design workshops and other forums
integrating workshop output into new materials
piloting program delivery to test and further refine new programs and resources
Document progress and report regularly to the Project Manager to ensure allocated tasks within the project plan are completed on time, measures of success are documented and monitored, project risks are identified and managed, and project activities remain within the allocated budget.
Provide support for the Employ Me Project through program delivery, videography and other tasks as necessary, including working with identified cohorts (such as young people with disability and adults involved in Tasmania’s criminal justice system with cognitive impairment).
Assist with other duties as required, including tasks and activities to support broader BIAT programs.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
Eligibility to work in Australia
National Police Records Check
Working with Vulnerable Persons Registration
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt communication to meet the needs of people with a range of abilities
Strong computing skills
Current driver’s license, access to your own vehicle and the ability to conduct regular intrastate travel and to work outside business hours (on occasion)
DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES
Sound understanding of community development, human rights and social inclusion, and community engagement principles and practices
Experience with the delivery of capacity building, training or education programs
Experience with the delivery of videography would be highly advantageous
Experience working in or with the not for profit/non-government sector

SELECTION CRITERIA
Knowledge of brain injury and its impacts (or ability to acquire quickly)
Experience in project management and program delivery, including the development of key documents, delivery, recording and evaluation of outcomes.
Excellent capacity to engage, build positive relationships and communicate with program participants, professionals and people at all levels, including tailoring communication to suit specific target groups and individual needs
Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a workplace, and to engage effectively with team members and leadership to maximise individual and team achievement of project targets and outcomes
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and manage deadlines to achieve results on time
Excellent literacy skills, attention to detail, the ability to organise information logically and effectively, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences in a manner that is appropriate for and understood by each intended audience
Ability to exercise good judgement and handle difficult, complex and sensitive situations with professionalism
