About the role

This is a full-time Bookkeeper role based in Cairns, Queensland. You will be responsible for maintaining the financial records and accounts of a diverse range of small to medium-sized businesses. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting our clients to make informed decisions and achieve their financial goals.

What you'll be doing

Recording and processing daily financial transactions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations

Preparing and submitting Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other tax returns

Generating financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements

Providing bookkeeping support and advice to clients, helping them to better understand their financial position

Liaising with external parties such as accountants, auditors, and tax authorities as required

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software

Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably within a small to medium-sized business or accounting practice

Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and Xero software

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping

Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work to deadlines

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients

A problem-solving mindset and the ability to provide practical financial advice

Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualifications (e.g., Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping)
