We are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist. The Senior Payroll Specialist is a key member of the Finance Team, supporting the Deputy Business Manager in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of staff remuneration and the payment of all payroll related accounts.
This role supports the financial operations of the school by managing payroll systems, maintaining detailed records, and serving as a resource for faculty and staff on payroll-related matters.
By maintaining accurate records and adhering to established policies and timelines, the Senior Payroll Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the College’s commitment to operational excellence and staff wellbeing.
Essential
• Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, preferably within the education or not-for-profit (NFP) sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end payroll processing.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including Fair Work Act, Multi-Enterprise Agreements (MEA’s), superannuation requirements, and ATO compliance.
• Proficiency in payroll systems such as Definitiv, MicrOpay or similar.
• High level of attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and strong analytical skills.
• Working with Children check.
Desirable
• Certificate IV in Payroll Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
• Familiarity with payroll structures, award interpretation, and MEA's within the education sector.
• Experience working with enterprise agreements in an educational or similar environment.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative to deliver accurate and timely results.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective time management and organisational skills.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvement.
• High level of digital fluency and adaptability to new technologies and systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and inspire confidence across diverse stakeholders.
• A genuine willingness to support and uphold the mission and values of the College.
