The City of Fremantle’s Community Safety and Parking team is an inclusive team focused on fostering a safe and vibrant environment for both residents and visitors. We are seeking proactive, professional, dedicated, and community-minded supervisor to join our team. This role is crucial to the City’s commitment to community safety, parking and well-being. Together, our team strives to make the City a safer and more welcoming place for everyone.

As a Senior Officer, you will thrive in an ever-changing work environment with new challenges and opportunities every day. You will lead the Community Safety and Parking Officers, be supported by the Team Leader and the wider Community Safety team. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to local and state law enforcement, homeless support and education, animal management and investigations relating to dogs, cats, illegal dumping, illegal camping, off-road vehicles, firebreaks.

Key responsibilities include:

Provide on road supervision to the Community Safety and Parking Officers on relevant legislative and organisation rules, investigations, procedures, and practices, ensuring compliance.

Coordinate in-field resources, ensuring sufficient day-to-day coverage and responsiveness, including leave management.

Act as the escalation point for critical incidents during team operational hours.

Mentor, coach or train team members in the field to deliver a high level of performance and customer satisfaction.

Promote and role model excellence in customer service in compliance with the City of Fremantle Customer Service Charter.

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, such as WA Police, for the safety of the Fremantle Community.

About you:

Essential Criteria:

Highly effective and proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, and Local Laws.

Demonstrated ability in conducting investigations and detailed report writing.

Highly effective and proven communication and interpersonal skills, including strong emotional intelligence abilities.

Proven ability to make critical decisions under pressure and apply problem-solving skills to resolve complex and sensitive situations.

Intermediate computer literacy and experience using the full Microsoft Suite.

Possession of a current Western Australian driver’s licence.

Current First Aid Certification.

Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Clearance.

Highly Desirable:

ROCS1 and ROCS2 qualifications.

Experience preparing case files for prosecution.

Experience in a front-line facing role and/or Community Safety or Ranger role.

Experience working in Local Government.
