Hunter & Hound is a traditional local pub located in the heart of South Melbourne. With a rich, nostalgic atmosphere and a focus on quality food, drink, and service, we pride ourselves on delivering a memorable experience to locals and visitors alike. The venue also encompasses Mirror Mirror Rooftop, a stylish cocktail lounge located on the third floor of the same building, offering elevated views and premium service.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bar Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Hunter & Hound. This role will also include occasional support and coordination with Mirror Mirror Rooftop Bar. The Bar Manager will work closely with the Venue Manager to ensure smooth, efficient service, consistent stock control, team performance, and exceptional guest experiences.

Oversee day-to-day bar operations at Hunter & Hound (Wednesday to Sunday).

Lead and support a team of bartenders and floor staff during service.

Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and presentation.

Manage stock levels, place orders, track usage, and reduce waste.

Ensure compliance with RSA, licensing laws, and venue policies.

Assist the Venue Manager with scheduling, training, and staff development.

Contribute to the development of cocktail menus and product offerings.

Liaise with suppliers and service technicians as needed.

Occasionally assist with operations and service at Mirror Mirror Rooftop Bar.

Handle customer feedback and resolve issues with professionalism.

Support the venue’s culture of quality, teamwork, and hospitality.

What We’re Looking For

Previous bar management or senior bartender experience in a fast-paced venue.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Experience with stock management and ordering systems.

Ability to work independently and take initiative.

A passion for hospitality and creating great customer experiences.

Sound knowledge of beer, spirits, wine, and cocktail service.

Valid RSA.

Availability Wednesday to Sunday (venue closed Mondays and Tuesdays).
