About This Opportunity

Every HDR journey is unique and behind each one is a network of people ensuring students feel supported, connected, and set up to thrive.

As a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Liaison Officer, you'll be part of that network, playing a vital role in helping HDR candidates navigate the complexities of postgraduate study. Based within the UQ Graduate School, you'll be the go-to contact for candidates and their advisors; offering guidance, coordinating development activities, and supporting smooth progression from admission through to completion.

By collaborating with Directors of HDR and teams across the University, you'll help create a more connected and enriching experience for candidates, contributing to a research community that is both high-performing and deeply human.

If you're passionate about student support, operational excellence, and building relationships across a diverse academic environment, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact at one of Australia's leading research institutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for HDR candidates, providing proactive support and guidance on candidature progression and development.
  • Collaborate with Directors of HDR (DHDRs) to monitor candidate progress, identify changing needs, and implement appropriate support measures.
  • Facilitate the administration of HDR admissions, scholarship nominations, and orientation activities for new candidates.
  • Work with the HDR Liaison Team Leader to promote and coordinate engagement and development opportunities for HDR candidates, enhancing their research training and cohort experience.
