About us
For over 30 years, Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) has partnered with industry to keep construction workers and the community safe when working near utilities. We are a not-for-profit Member organisation comprising of asset owning and non-asset owning members who support our vision of zero damage, zero harm, zero disruption across Australia.
As well as our free underground plan service, the "Look up and Live" overhead electricty safety tool, BYDA provides free safety education and awareness sessions to the civil construction and Building industry and relevant trades. Each session covers a range of topics of discussion, including:
How the BYDA safety tools work
The importance of safe work near utilities
Utility Plan Reading and complying with asset-owner instructions
Consequences of damaging infrastructure (damage, harm and disruption)

Qualifications & experience
Strong communicator
Agile, adaptable, and self-motivated
Strong relationship builder and team player
Ideally you are from a member services, training, or safety background
Experienced in public speaking and facilitating training sessions and events
Strong relationship builder and team player
WHS or Utility experience well regarded
Tasks & responsibilities
This role will be directly involved in working with existing members and will also see you playing a critical role in developing strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure our local team is well positioned as a safety partner for industry when it comes to safe excavation and digging practices.
Plan and deliver Member and Stakeholder engagement strategies that build meaningful relationships and dialogue
Contribute to the national strategic goals by delivering local projects and initiatives
Support the NSW damage prevention team deliver training and awareness sessions across NSW with a focus on safe digging practices to deliver our vision of Zero Damage - Zero Harm - Zero Disruption
Facilitate and deliver workshops and forums for members and industry
Advocate as required with relevant industry bodies for the development of training programs and qualifications that will assist in promoting safe work practices and asset protection.
Contribute to the management and improvement of national training material
Advocate as required with relevant industry bodies to promote safe work practices and damage prevention.
Work with members to identify local opportunities to promote safety messages, best practice and create engagement between local members.
Enhance and improve training, awareness and engagement of BYDA within the broader industry.
