The Organisation
CropLife Australia is the national peak industry organisation for the plant science sector, representing companies that develop and supply innovative crop protection and biotechnology innovations. We advocate for a science-based independent regulatory system so that Australian farmers have access to our member companies’ innovations to support sustainable agriculture and food security.
The Position
We are looking for a motivated Government and Stakeholder Relations Officer to enhance our parliamentary, political and stakeholder engagement and advocacy activity. This role is perfect for an upcoming professional wanting to expand their capabilities in policy, advocacy and stakeholder relations.
The role reports to the Director of Government and Strategic Relations and supports delivering strategic advocacy projects and events across the organisation’s key policy areas including:
Agricultural chemical and crop biotechnology regulation
Australian agricultural policy
Sustainable agriculture, product stewardship and recycling initiatives
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and analyse the political and policy environment.
Maintain network and database of Parliamentary and stakeholders.
Develop, write and design content for a wide range of written materials and publications
Develop and deliver advocacy projects
Event planning, coordination and management
Support public relations and advocacy and issues management
About You/Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you should have some of the following:
Experience in government relations, policy advocacy, public affairs, or a related field.
Strong understanding of the Australian political system at Federal and state and territory levels.
Advanced writing and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, issues management and/or advocacy campaigns.
Capacity to think innovatively, adapt and work well under pressure.
Strong project management skills and ability to shift priorities
Excellent strategic thinking, research, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work proactively and across teams, providing advice to senior managers
Well organised, able to multi-task and deal with multiple competing priorities.
Relevant academic qualifications
