Our client is an independent, not-for-profit organisation, incorporated in 2006 as a company limited by guarantee (originally as the Influenza Specialist Group).
They are a leading voice in whole-of-life immunisation in Australia, working to protect all Australians against communicable diseases.
About the role
As a Government Affairs and Grants Executive, you will be responsible for managing relationships between the organisation, Federal Government, and Government Representatives, including the Department of Health, on infectious disease vaccination matters. The role includes a grants component and may extend to specific State and Territory Governments in the future.
The role involves meeting with key stakeholders to discuss infectious diseases and how best to address undervaccination through local and national strategies, which are in line with the Organisations objectives and goals as a non-for-profit services provider. Grant opportunities are a part of the strategic plan aligned with increase vaccination rates specific to age groups and types of infectious diseases
Responsibilities
Act as the main liaison with the Federal Government and Department of Health on vaccination and public health matters.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with decision-makers and policy leaders.
Identify and lead government grant submissions aligned with vaccination and public health strategies.
Represent the Organisation in meetings, hearings, and forums.
Provide regular insights on legislative changes and public health initiatives.
About You
Proven experience in government relations or public policy (3-5 years).
Background in the Health and Aged Care sectors.
Strong grant writing or submission experience.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and advocacy skills.
Confident working independently and managing competing priorities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
Travel
Minimal interstate travel required for occasional team meetings and conferences.
