What is the role?
Applications are sought from interested applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Band 6 Strategic Property Planning Team member, Property Policy and Governance sitting under Property Planning & Futures Section (PP&F) which resides within the Property Command.
PP&F provides advice to a broad range of groups including the AFP’s Senior Leadership, property forums and business areas. This advice seeks to inform them on matters relating to the strategy and/or planning to deliver future infrastructure, facilities and property-based solutions.
PP&F also continually test the viability of properties against:
- Workforce planning advice.
- Directions from the Executive.
- Announcements from Government.
- Principles and objectives of the AFP’s Strategic Property Plan.
- Market best practices and data.
Outcomes enable PP&F to know the future suitability of properties across the AFP’s diverse Property Portfolio.
In response, PP&F develop funded strategies to ensure the Property Portfolio is ever evolving to ensure it maintains its principal role of, supporting the delivery of law enforcement capabilities/operations and accommodating the AFP’s skilled workforce and assets.
The Property Planning Team Member is a new position responsible for developing and maintaining robust documentation on accommodation requirements and understanding the strategic direction related to all business areas across the AFP. This role will ensure compliance with standards and government best practice.
What will you do?
Reporting to the Band 7 Team Property Planning & Governance. The role will contribute to the development of Policy and Governance for Property Command by delivering a broad range of tasks including.
- Lead the research, development, drafting and review of comprehensive property policies, procedures, manuals and templates for the Australian federal Police Property portfolio.
- Ensure all policies are clear, concise, consistent and compliant with relevant legislation, regulations and government best practice.
- Provide Commands with strategies to deliver suitable accommodation fit outs, which maximise the use of their current space allocation, offer solutions to evolving and complex accommodation pressures.
- Inform the investment planning and decision-making processes attached to the Property Board, investment planning and other decision-based forums.
- Establish and maintain a strong property governance framework, defining roles, responsibilities and decision-making processes for property related activities.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and actively pursuing opportunities for cooperation and information sharing.
- Taking a proactive approach to drive team performance, supported through clear direction, goal setting, health and wellbeing of individuals, and career development
- Modelling critical behaviours to promote a positive workplace culture and
- Having the ability to complete additional tasks at the direction of the supervisor or Senior Leadership.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Highly developed writing skills
- Sound planning & time management capabilities
- Strong interpersonal skills

- This role is located in ACT and applicants are expected to be based in ACT.
- This role is an AFP band 6 level
