About the team
An exciting opportunity awaits a Civil Design Engineer to become part of Kingston City Council’s Engineering Design Team within the Infrastructure Department. This team plays a pivotal role in delivering major infrastructure initiatives, including road upgrades, traffic management solutions, and flood mitigation projects.
Renowned for its technical excellence and recipient of multiple industry awards, the Engineering Design Team is central to shaping Kingston’s built environment.
About this opportunity
As a Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in providing civil engineering design services for municipal infrastructure projects. This hands-on role involves producing detailed construction plans, technical calculations, and contract documentation for projects of varying scope and complexity.
You will also conduct site investigations, develop concept designs, and offer expert technical guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities include
- Develop civil infrastructure designs and construction plans using drafting and design software.
- Manage the design phase of small to medium-scale projects, including engineering reports, cost estimates, and contract documentation.
- Collaborate with internal departments, external authorities, consultants, and developers on engineering matters and approvals.
- Respond to technical enquiries with timely, accurate, and professional advice, aligned with best practices and Council policies.
- Engage with the community on infrastructure concerns such as flooding investigations and requests for road and footpath improvements.
- Provide stormwater drainage assessments as part of the Development Approval referral process.
Your Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge of stormwater and road design principles.
- Proven experience in project delivery within civil infrastructure.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, civil design software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- A degree in Civil Engineering accredited under the Washington Accord.
