Position Summary
The RTO Instructional Designer is a role focused on creating effective training materials aimed at improving learning outcomes among Aboriginal health clinicians in the Kimberley. The position may also require delivery of various training programs as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Research: Conduct research to identify materials and tools for effective training delivery, ensuring all facilities and resources are prepared prior to student commencement in collaboration with RTO Educators.
- Instructional Design: Collaborate with the RTO Manager, Compliance Officer, and RTO Educators to write, edit, and publish training materials for various programs including Certificate III and IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Primary Health Work, Mental Health, and Business (Medical Receptionist).
- Assessment Design: Develop assessments aligned with principles of assessment and compliance requirements under the guidance of the RTO Manager and team.
- Training Delivery: Facilitate training sessions as required, particularly for Certificate III and IV programs related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Primary Health Work.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, particularly within the vocational education sector, and demonstrate a commitment to improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Proven instructional design experience in an RTO or similar setting.
- Current experience in teaching adults in vocational education.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including by light planes.
- Possess a TAE qualification or equivalent.
- Hold a current National Police Clearance or be willing to obtain one.
Desirable qualifications include experience as an Aboriginal Health Worker or Registered Nurse, a background in teaching Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples, and established connections to the local communities.
Salary & Benefits
Your dedication will be rewarded with an attractive base salary of $102,759 per annum pro rata plus a range of benefits including:
- Generous salary packaging options;
- Annual airfares after 12 months of employment up to $1,285 p.a;
- Accommodation allowance of $13,000 p.a pro rata;
- 5 weeks annual leave p.a pro rata;
- Electricity subsidy of $1,440 p.a pro rata

KAMSC (Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council) is a regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS), providing a collective voice for a network of member ACCHS from towns and remote communities across the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) established in the Kimberley in 1978, and was followed by the East Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service (EKAMS, in Kununurra) in 1984. The vision for a unified voice, to provide centralised resources and collective advocacy for the sector, achieved reality in 1986 with the establishment of KAMSC.
