Roses in the Ocean is a national not for profit organisation founded on and operating through the lens of lived experience of suicide; we exist to save lives and reduce emotional pain. We seek to lead the significant cultural shift needed to save lives through harnessing the perspectives of all we represent, along with our own lived experience of suicide. With our actions driven and guided by those with a lived experience of suicide, we strive to innovate and transform suicide prevention, drive and deliver system reform and support organisations and government to effectively and meaningfully integrate lived experience expertise into suicide prevention.
Everyone who works within Roses in the Ocean has a lived experience of suicide which is defined as ‘having experienced suicidal thoughts, survived a suicide attempt, cared for someone through suicidal crisis, or been bereaved by suicide.’
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Projects & Workshops Support, the Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for the design, maintenance, evaluation and continuous improvement of workshops, eLearning modules, and blended courses within the PAWS team. This role also contributes to the design and maintenance of course descriptions, promotions and website content in collaboration with the extended workshops team.
Summary of Duties:
Design and update inclusive, culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed learning content.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, facilitators, and people with lived experience to refine content.
Manage and coordinate activities within our Learning Management System (LMS).
Analyse feedback to enhance participant experiences and learning outcomes.
Support facilitators through onboarding and ongoing development.
Maintain project tracking systems and contribute to process improvements across the organisation.
Write compelling course descriptions and promotional materials in line with brand guidelines.
Please note, if you live within the Brisbane greater region, there will be an expectation for you to work a Hybrid model, 2 days from home, 3 days in our office located in Newstead. If you live in regional Queensland or Interstate you can work remotely from home.
What you’ll bring:
Lived experience of suicide and a deep understanding of its impact on families, workplaces, friends, and communities.
Experience in instructional design, learning development, and workshop evaluation.
Strong administrative, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Monday.com, Articulate 360, and SharePoint is highly regarded.
A collaborative mindset and ability to work autonomously.
A current Working with Children Check
Complete a national criminal history check
Desirable:
Tertiary qualifications in instructional design or education.
Graphic design skills and familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
Experience in suicide prevention or lived experience communities.
