Your Opportunity
The Integrated Family Support Service (IFSS) plays a critical role in advancing the wellbeing and safety of children, young people (ages 0-18), and their families across the North West Region. With a focus on early intervention, IFSS provides a voluntary, supportive service that empowers families to overcome challenges and build resilience. Using a structured case management approach, IFSS offers tailored resources and guidance to strengthen family capacity, sustainability, and independence.

This is an on-site position based in Devonport. As a Family Support Practitioner, you will, through collaborative engagement, work with families to proactively identify and address issues impacting their parenting, helping them develop strategies to encourage and create a nurturing and stable environment for children and young people. This approach not only reduces the likelihood of involvement from Child Safety Services but also promotes long-term positive outcomes, enabling families to thrive within their communities. IFSS's dedication to reinforcing family strengths and creating safer, healthier homes contributes to the overall wellbeing of the Northwest Region, making a lasting difference in the lives of those it supports.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with families and work together to develop effective plans for long-term positive outcomes.
  • Providing therapeutic intervention to support case plans.
  • Actively work with families to identify goals that will promote safety, well-being and belonging for their children.
  • Engage families in their homes and at other suitable locations, to overcome barriers to engagement actively and proactively.
  • Undertaking case management including reviews, reporting and administration functions
  • Create and update individualised case management files for all clients.
  • Coordinate and participate in stakeholder meetings with other services and clients.
  • Connect families with other services through referrals out.

Requirements for Success

  • A degree or qualification in Community Services, Human Services, Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, or another relevant field.
  • Experience in the Case Management of families facing multiple and complex challenges such as mental health, disability and domestic and family violence is desirable.
  • Strong administration skills - reporting, case notes and general documentation
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and influencing ability - able to relate to children, parents, and other service providers.
  • Proven ability to form effective partnerships and connections with other professionals and organisations.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage time effectively while managing a caseload of complex clients including the ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • A sound level of computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and client case management systems.
  • First Aid Certificate is desired but not required.
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Your Benefits
To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:

  • Rewarding work - every day you know you're making a real difference
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
  • Free external, confidential counselling and access to chaplaincy support.
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Extra leave available including an additional public holiday, additional annual leave day on your work anniversary and the opportunity to purchase further annual leave.
