About AMSANT
The Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT) is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) in the Northern Territory. Based in Darwin, AMSANT advocates for Aboriginal health equity and supports the delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate primary health care services across remote and urban communities. With over two decades of experience, AMSANT plays a vital leadership role in policy development, capacity building, workforce support, and sector coordination. We work closely with our member services, governments, and other stakeholders to influence health reform and improve the health and well-being of Aboriginal people in the NT.

About the Opportunity
AMSANT is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to join the team in Darwin, NT. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the HR Manager will lead AMSANT's HR operations and strategy, ensuring compliance, engagement, and alignment with organisational values and strategic goals.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leading the development and implementation of HR policies, systems, and compliance processes
Supporting AMSANT’s cultural framework and fostering a safe, inclusive workplace
Advising managers on employee relations, performance, EBA interpretation and risk mitigation
Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning and succession planning
Overseeing employee data, HR systems, and recordkeeping
Ensuring AMSANT’s compliance with Fair Work, WHS, industrial relations, and insurance matters
Managing industrial relation matters, workplace issues, and complex HR cases
Providing training, coaching, and support to managers and staff across departments
About You
To be successful, you’ll need at least 4 years of generalist HR experience and strong knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, and employee relations.
You will bring:
Strong analytical skills to interpret and communicate HR data and compliance obligations
Demonstrated experience coaching managers through industrial relations and HR best practice
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially in multicultural environments
High-level planning and organisational skills to manage HR systems and processes
Experience with HRIS and workforce planning
Highly regarded experience includes:
Prior experience in not-for-profit or community-controlled organisations
In-depth knowledge of the Fair Work Act, WHS legislation, and enterprise agreements
Experience managing workplace compensation cases and risk-related HR issues

Be culturally aware and uphold AMSANT’s values in times of organisational change
This is a strategic, high-trust leadership role where your coordination, clarity, and cultural sensitivity will shape how AMSANT supports its people and grows sustainably.
You will also hold a current Ochre Card and National Police Check, or be willing to obtain one.
