In 2024, Bloomhill Cancer Care became part of the Leukaemia Foundation, providing support services from its integrative cancer care centre in Buderim to address the growing need for cancer care in regional Queensland. Bloomhill Cancer Care is a local Cancer Care facility, established by the Sunshine Coast community for the Sunshine Coast community, to provide care and support for people of all ages living with cancer.
We currently have a vacancy for a Fundraising and Community Engagement Lead. The position is part time, 30.4 hours per week with flexibility around working days. Due to the nature of the role there may be times where this role will be required to work adjusted or additional hours to meet the operational needs. We are also open to applicants who are seeking full time hours. The pay classification is under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010, currently $47.97 per hour plus 12% superannuation. We offer generous salary packaging up to $15,900 and packaging meal and entertainment card $2,650.
The Fundraising and Community Engagement Lead is responsible for developing and executing strategies that strengthen Bloomhill’s fundraising outcomes and deepen community engagement. Working collaboratively with the Events and Volunteer Lead, this role cultivates relationships with donors, businesses, philanthropic partners, and local supporters to generate financial and in-kind contributions that sustain Bloomhill’s services.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the financial sustainability of Bloomhill’s integrated cancer care model, supporting the mission to provide compassionate care and practical support to people impacted by cancer across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding communities.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy and Implementation
In consultation with the General Manager, design, implement, and monitor a fundraising strategy across multiple income streams: individual giving, major donors, corporate partnerships, regular giving, community fundraising, grants, and bequests.
Identify and cultivate relationships with new and existing donors and supporters, including high-net-worth individuals and business partners.
Provide consistent, high quality stewardship to ensure our supporters receive a remarkable experience
With the support of the General Manager, create compelling giving campaigns that increase supporter engagement and retention.
Work closely with the General Manager to identify new revenue opportunities aligned with Bloomhill’s strategic goals.
Collaborate with the Events and Volunteer Lead to integrate fundraising activities into the annual events calendar.
Community Engagement
Lead initiatives that build Bloomhill’s profile in the community, strengthen local partnerships, and encourage grassroots involvement.
Identify and nurture relationships with schools, community groups, service clubs, local councils and small businesses to support awareness and fundraising initiatives.
Represent Bloomhill at external events, community forums and local partnerships, positioning the organisation as a trusted and values-led community asset.
Donor Stewardship and Communications
Manage donor relations through regular engagement, recognition, impact reporting and tailored communications.
Maintain donor and partner records through the CRM and ensure high standards of data accuracy and privacy.
Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to design fundraising collateral, newsletters, social media and donor impact stories.
Deliver tailored proposals, thank-you communications and impact reports for partners and philanthropic supporters.
Grants and Philanthropy Support
Identify relevant grant and philanthropic funding opportunities and support application development in partnership with the leadership team.
Track application outcomes and manage reporting requirements for successful grants.
Maintain positive relationships with philanthropic partners and local giving circles.
Internal Collaboration and Reporting
Work closely with the Events and Volunteer Lead to align community engagement and fundraising messaging.
Provide regular updates and insights on fundraising performance to the General Manager and leadership team.
Contribute to budget forecasts, strategic planning and impact reporting.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
Demonstrated experience in fundraising, business development, or community engagement within the not-for-profit sector.
Strong relationship-building skills with ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders including donors, corporates and community groups.
Proven experience managing donor journeys, communications and CRM systems.
Ability to think strategically and creatively to meet fundraising targets and build supporter engagement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organised, outcome-focused and self-directed, with collaborative working style.
A genuine commitment to the mission and values of Bloomhill.
Desirable
Knowledge of fundraising compliance and ACNC regulations.
Experience with grant writing and philanthropic relationship management.
Familiarity with health care or community services sectors.
Driver’s license and Blue Card (or willingness to obtain).
Other Requirements
Vaccine Preventability Disease (VPD) Status - the role is a VPD risk role with requirements relating to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Pertussis (Whopping cough) and Varicella (Chicken pox).
