They are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join their high performing team based in Brisbane. This is an opportunity for a first mover out of Audit or Business Services, or a commercially skilled Financial Accountant, to take the next step in their career and gain genuine and rapid career development and progression opportunities within a large US listed business.

About the Role

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for all financial transactions, end of month process and reporting. Accountant responsibilities include auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements and calculating tax payments and returns. Ultimately, the accountant provides the company with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of our business, while ensuring compliancy with all tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Manages costing systems, margin analysis, project costing, stock valuation, OCD and WIP reporting

Prepares monthly management accounts, revenue recognition, and COGS reports with variance analysis

Performs month-end, quarter-end and year-end close including journals, accruals and GL adjustments

Handles GST reporting, tax computations and ensures accurate journal processing

Maintains and reconciles intercompany transactions and monthly balance sheet items

Oversees fixed asset register including depreciation, asset additions, disposals and project closures

Prepares OneStream financial reporting and reconciles to Microsoft Dynamics

Substantiates transactions by auditing documentation and resolving financial discrepancies

Assists with audit schedules, statutory reporting and compliance timelines

Supports SG&A budgeting and forecasting processes

Provides timely and accurate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders

Ensures integrity of financial data through continuous reconciliation and review activities

Skills and Experience

CPA or CA qualified accountant essential

1st mover out of public practice Audit or Business Services OR Commercial experience

Have strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Excellent communication skills, comfortable to interact with local accounting teams, business, functional and industry controllers and business stakeholders

High Attention to detail and ability to notice discrepancies in data

Microsoft office skills (expert knowledge of Excel)

Good communication skills to liaise effectively with the wider business

Someone who take initiative and thinks about how they can ‘add value’ to the organization
