For more than 75 years the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) has managed the training and continuing professional education of orthopaedic surgeons in Australia. It is seeking a Senior Selection Officer to join their Education & Training team in Sydney.
The opportunity:
The Senior Selection Officer will be responsible for all aspects of the process to annually select applicants to the AOA 21 Training Program in Orthopaedic Surgery. The Senior Selection Officer will play a crucial role in delivering high quality Selection systems, resources and support to AOA's key clients and stakeholders.
This position would suit a person with strong attention to detail, who is able to prioritise tasks and work within tight deadlines. An honest, reliable, flexible self-starter is being sought.
In particular, this role involves:
Managing and administering all aspects of the process to annually select candidates to the AOA 21 Training Program in Orthopaedic Surgery, including:
Receipt and following up of queries
Processing and assessing applications
CV marking
Testing
Multi-mini Interviews
Referee Reporting
Data collation and processing
Training post offers
Feedback Submissions and Requests
Drafting complex documents and correspondence
Developing, implementing, monitoring and updating policies, processes, guidelines, training materials and templates
Providing high level committee support, including active contribution to the annual review of Selection, paper preparation and minute taking
Working with external technology providers, the IT team, and members of the AOA team to scope, plan for, develop and implement technology to support the Selection process
Liaising with applicants, Trainees, Fellows and other key stakeholders to effectively address their needs and build relationships in a proactive manner
Oversight of the administration of the AOA membership database, Selection application system, and other data management systems as required, including the integration of data as required
Providing content advice and material for the development of online elements of relevant programs of work
Providing support to the Training Program Operations Manager and National Education & Training Executive Manager, as required.
To be successful in this role, applicants will ideally have:
Background in medical, health and/or education (e.g. university administration)
Previous senior administration experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications
Understanding of medical education processes and requirements
Previous exposure to education policy development and implementation
Experience in project management and process development and implementation
Experience in selecting candidates to a training program
Experience in providing committee support including meeting preparation and taking minutes
Understanding of and previous experience in database administration and management
Knowledge of and experience in a not for profit or membership organisation
Additionally, the appointee will have the following knowledge and skills:
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to draft complex and sensitive correspondence, presentations and reports
Effective problem solving skills, and the capacity to be creative, enterprising and responsive to key stakeholder needs
Ability to prioritise and manage time whilst working to deadlines
Highly developed organisation skills
Client relationship building and key stakeholder management
Ability to take initiative and manage own program of work
Keen eye for detail and delivery of a superior standard of service
Professional friendly manner
