ABOUT THE ROLE

The Clinical Coding Coordinator (Team Leader) is a key role within the organisation, responsible for the mentorship, guidance, and ongoing education of the Clinical Coding team. In addition to managing regular audits, the coordination of daily work, and the provision of training to the team, this position seeks to ensure accuracy and best practice is executed to improve workflow efficiency. This position is perfectly suited to an experienced clinical coder, looking for their next step within team leadership (whilst still maintaining a hands-on coding portion of the role).

DUTIES

• Provide ongoing support and guidance to the clinical coding team
• Undertake regular audits to ensure accuracy and maintain compliance
• Distribute the daily coordination of coding and auditing requirements amongst team in line with WIP
• Develop and deliver education and training to the team in line with best practice and regulatory requirements
• Continuously search for process improvements to create efficiencies
• Whilst team mentorship is the core portion of the role, this role does also involve an element of coding

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum four years of experience within clinical coding
• Exposure previously working within a complex, tertiary-level hospital
• Qualification within clinical coding (e.g. ICD-10-AM) or Health Information Management
• Strong communication skills written and verbal
• High attention to detail and levels of initiative
