Product Manager – Product Team
Location: Remote (East Coast Australia-based)

About the Role
We’re looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Product Manager to join our growing team at Novoplan. In this role, you’ll work closely with our product and technical teams to bring the Product Strategy and Action Plan to life - turning ideas into impactful software that meets and exceeds market needs.

From detailed design to sprint guidance and release communications, you’ll help shape a product that supports infrastructure planning and delivery for local governments and utilities across Australia.

What You’ll Do

  • Gather and define product requirements: Collaborate with stakeholders to capture product requirements that reflect real customer and market needs and are consistent with Novoplan’s Product Strategy.
  • Develop actionable designs: Translate product requirements into clear, actionable user stories and design documentation for the technical team.
  • Guide delivery: Participate in sprint planning and ceremonies, ensuring development work is aligned to goals and priorities.
  • Test for quality: Undertake functional testing of new features and updates to ensure they meet requirements before release.
  • Communicate product updates: Prepare and share clear, engaging release communications with customers and internal teams.
  • Maintain product documentation: Keep all specifications, user guides, and technical documentation up to date.
  • Create support content: Develop accessible support materials in various formats (text, visuals, videos) to enable successful product use.
  • Respond to customer feedback: Monitor and manage customer service tickets, ensuring timely resolution and feeding insights back into the roadmap.
  • Improve how we work: Contribute to continuous improvement of our systems, tools, and processes to deliver better product outcomes.

Why Join Us?
Novoplan sits at the nexus of housing supply, community building and technology. We help our customers with easy-to-use software so that they can deliver the roads, utilities, parks and places that growing communities need to thrive.

Our software replaces the ad hoc systems councils and utility providers rely on with a purpose-built, off-the-shelf solution - empowering them to unlock funding, reduce risk, and accelerate infrastructure delivery. Spending less time in the weeds of administration, and more time doing what matters most.

You’ll be joining a growing, purpose-led team that values curiosity, responsiveness, community, and long-term thinking.

We offer:

  • Remote-first work environment (with regular local team meetups – either Melbourne or Gold Coast currently). *Only considering applicants along the East Coast of Australia.
  • Opportunities to shape how we work and deliver.
  • A supportive team culture focused on learning, collaboration, and impact.
  • Grow your skills through exposure to real, meaningful project work in both public and private sectors.
  • Work on projects that improve outcomes for communities and organisations across Australia.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar product role, designing complex business systems involving financial or mathematical calculations.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS business system development lifecycles.
  • Familiarity with government finance, infrastructure planning, or development application processes is highly valued.
  • Experience working with or within Australian Local Authorities or Water Entities (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, business process mapping tools (Visio, Camunda) and familiarity with DevOps and service desk tools such as Azure DevOps and Jira.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear product requirements documentation and product support content.
  • Willingness to travel for in-person team offsites and company-wide gatherings throughout the year.

Who You Are

  • You’re hands-on and practical, with a “no job too small” attitude and a willingness to dive into the detail to get things done right.
  • A curious problem-solver who thrives on turning ideas into clear, executable plans.
  • A confident communicator who can engage effectively with customers, technical staff, and stakeholders alike.
  • Self-motivated and proactive - you take ownership, work independently, and make informed decisions.
  • Collaborative by nature, with a team-first mindset and a focus on delivering value for the communities we serve.
  • Adaptable, positive, and always looking for ways to improve how we work and what we deliver.
