About This Opportunity
Join the University of Queensland Library in a pivotal leadership and management role as our Manager, Library Faculty Services to the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences (HASS) Faculty and Business, Economics and Law (BEL) Faculty. As part of our leadership group, lead and inspire the Faculty Services Librarian Team, playing a crucial part in managing and coordinating the delivery of high-quality services that directly support UQ's teaching, learning, and research endeavours.
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead collaboration and partnership with designated Faculties, influence collection development, and drive service excellence, ensuring our library's offerings align seamlessly with the University's strategic goals. You will also manage team performance, foster effective communication, and contribute significantly to broader Library initiatives, all while upholding the UQ Library Way.
Key responsibilities will include:
Team Leadership & Service Coordination
- Manage and coordinate the Faculty Services Librarian Team, overseeing workloads, coordinating services , and contributing to service development and review.
Strategic Faculty Engagement
- Lead collaboration and partnership with designated Faculties to deliver high-quality research and teaching support services that align with University strategic goals, including supporting collection and content selection.
Performance Monitoring & Quality Assurance
- Manage and monitor team performance through collecting statistics and applying quality assurance procedures, while also fostering strong partnerships across the Library and University.
Library Contribution & Communication
- Contribute as an effective Library team member, leading or participating in planning and goal delivery, and ensuring effective communication, liaison, and negotiation with all UQ staff and clients.
About You
- Recognized professional library qualifications with extensive relevant experience and management expertise. This includes a demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, mentor, and lead high-performing teams in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Proven knowledge and experience providing high-level services that enhance teaching, learning, and research. Excellent organisational skills will enable you to manage multiple projects and people effectively against competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and the ability to negotiate and build strong relationships with diverse senior stakeholders, colleagues, and staff.
- Self-motivated individual with strong initiative, drive, and a proactive work ethic, capable of working autonomously while also being an excellent team player.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the University's values, including inclusivity, openness, respect, and integrity.
