About This Opportunity

As a Library Services Officer within the Library Student Experience team, you will provide outstanding front-line support, addressing the diverse library and information needs of UQ students and academics. This vital role contributes directly to a positive client experience and the University's mission, supporting teaching, learning, and research.

Key responsibilities will include:

Client Support & Resource Navigation

  • Provide information and advice on library resources, UQ systems, and services. Assess client needs, including IT issues, offering solutions or specialist referrals.

Operational Management & Documentation

  • Create, edit, maintain, and delete library and institutional records. Assist with developing and maintaining Library documentation and statistical reports, supporting compliance and reporting.

Team Support & Problem Resolution

  • Support, supervise, and act as an escalation point for colleagues, including training, coordinating workflows, and quality assurance. Resolve routine and non-routine issues, escalating as appropriate.

Continuous Improvement & Flexibility

  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and policies, and participate in implementing change initiatives. Demonstrate flexibility and agility to assist with all library operational activities and sites, undertaking rostered shifts and other duties as directed.

Please note:

  • Occasional evening, weekend and/or roster work will be required.
  • This role involves some lifting and upper body work for shelving activities.
About You

  • Degree/qualifications with demonstrated competence in service delivery and improvement, including proficient use of technology, adherence to policies, responsible resource management, and timely, proactive delivery.
  • Proven digital capabilities, including competence in various software and familiarity with systems like library management systems. Evidence of delivering quality results, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, taking responsibility for actions and timelines, and proactively addressing issues and risks.
  • Demonstrable self-organisation, self-motivation, and self-leadership, including managing timelines, sharing knowledge, and actively engaging in self-development. Proven effective communication, providing clear information, active listening, and contributing positively to workplace discussions.
  • An excellent team player, collaborating effectively with a positive, cooperative, and inclusive mindset. Exhibits an adaptable and flexible approach to work, remaining open to new situations and demonstrating the ability to pivot within a changing environment.
