The Events Centre, Caloundra is seeking a chef with experience in large scale banqueting, a la carte restaurant operations, and innovative menu development, to lead our team as the head of our kitchen brigade.
Experience as a Head Chef is not essential, if you are a senior/executive sous chef looking for your first head chef position this could be the role for you.

The Events Centre, Caloundra is the largest performing arts centre on the Sunshine Coast. Our vision is to be Queensland’s leading regional venue for arts, entertainment, cultural and corporate events.
About The Role:
The Head Chef is responsible for managing all kitchen activities, including menu planning, food preparation, and staff management. They ensure that food is of high quality, meets customer expectations, and is prepared efficiently.
- Responsible for the management of the day-to-day kitchen operations, including the financial responsibilities of the labour and food costs associated with the kitchen.
- Creation of new menu dishes with an emphasis on quality local produce and designing bespoke menus tailored to events.
- Planning the delivery and executing large-scale conference and banqueting events (400 – 500pax) over multiple days.
- Ensure that food preparation, presentation and cooking techniques are established and monitored to meet high quality standards and that they are maintained at that level.
- Responsible for the food safety program and its continuous improvement.

About You:
If you are experienced, energetic, motivated, and have strong work ethics we would like to meet you. Other qualifications and experience must include:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
- Experience in large banqueting operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Available and flexible for weekends and nights.
- Motivated to focus on continual improvements and working in a team environment.
- Well presented, punctual, with attention to detail.
- Can work under pressure with large numbers of patrons.
