Active Recruitment is working with our client to find a motivated Assistant Accountant to join their team in Marsden Park.

This is a junior-level position, ideal for someone with around 1 year of experience in a similar role who is ready to take the next step in their accounting career within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

About the Role: Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you’ll assist with the preparation and analysis of financial reports, reconciliations, and general support to the accounting function. You'll play an important role in ensuring accurate and timely financial information is provided to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and analyse variances
• Compile financial accounting information
• Assist auditors with information requests
• Support preparation and lodgement of Tax Returns and BAS
• Maintain the fixed asset register and post monthly depreciation
• Prepare weekly bank reconciliations and journal entry registers
• Perform reconciliations of accounts, transactions, and financial data
• Post journal entries during month-end closing
• Provide administrative and general support to the accounting team
• Assist with ad-hoc accounting projects
• Provide backup for the Financial Accountant when on leave
• Follow established processes and contribute to continuous improvements

What You’ll Need:

• Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
• Ideally studying towards CPA
• Around 1 year of experience in a similar accounting role
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems (preferred but not essential)
• Strong attention to detail, initiative, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team
• Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
