About the Business Unit:

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria. Technology Solutions and Data Security focuses on meeting the department's data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes.

Technology Solutions and Data Security explores and employs technology to enable the department's business function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services. It supports enterprise-wide platforms and services including critical applications, networks, telecommunication, call centres, hosting, intranet/internet sites; delivers business and corporate funded project; and oversees the delivering of services provided by technology service providers such as Cenitex.

About the Role:

The Information Privacy Adviser is responsible for helping to develop and implement a variety of continuous improvement strategies throughout the department to instil a culture of effective corporate information, privacy, and complaint management compliance.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Assistingthe Manager, Information Privacy to manage departmental privacy complaints, including Privacy and Data Protection Commissioner and Health Services Commissioner complaints, and complaints referred to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
  • Preparing and reviewing privacy compliance related materials (including policies, procedures, guidelines, flowcharts and information sheets) for use within the department.
  • Preparing and updating the privacy-related content of the department's intranet.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the privacy-related requirements of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) and related legislation.
  • An understanding of issues and policies in the Justice portfolio.
  • Experience in the provision of service delivery in an environment which involves direct contact with the public.
