As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the agency’s program of uplift across its ICT capability, particularly in areas involving secure cloud adoption, cyber operations, and architecture. You will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to gather, analyse, and translate complex requirements into practical solutions that enhance existing systems and processes while aligning with security standards, including the ASD Blueprint for Secure Cloud and Zero Trust principles.

This position requires a professional with a strong understanding of ICT infrastructure, networks, cloud platforms, and security architectures. You will need the capability to engage deeply with technical subject matter experts, understand complex infrastructure environments, and contribute to designing secure, scalable technology solutions for government settings.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Business Analyst will undertake, but is not limited to, the following duties:

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the agency’s strategic and operational objectives.

Work professionally, objectively, innovatively, and efficiently, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and secure delivery of capability uplift initiatives.

Analyse business requirements and existing systems to develop information architectures, data schemas, and data dictionaries that support secure and scalable cloud and infrastructure solutions.

Apply knowledge of the ASD Blueprint for Secure Cloud to ensure business solutions are designed and assessed in line with recommended architectural patterns and controls for secure cloud adoption.

Lead workshops and stakeholder engagements to elicit, capture, and document business processes, requirements, business rules, and acceptance criteria, ensuring alignment with security obligations and Zero Trust concepts.

Interpret and translate business and technical requirements into practical solutions that align with government security standards and the agency’s cloud and infrastructure strategies.

Apply structured business analysis methodologies to ensure solutions deliver business value, security, and compliance with applicable policies and standards.

Provide guidance on vendor management practices, infrastructure and cloud security requirements, and best-practice approaches, including facilitating training and knowledge sharing.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst within government or complex ICT environments, delivering secure, high-value business and technology solutions.

A strong understanding of ICT infrastructure, including networks, cloud platforms, and security architecture, with the ability to engage confidently with technical teams and translate technical designs into business-focused outcomes.

Understanding of cloud technologies and architectures, with experience designing or analysing solutions in government environments.

Understanding of modern cyber security principles, including Zero Trust architectures, identity and access management, and data protection strategies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and translate it into actionable business and technical requirements.

Highly developed communication and facilitation skills, with experience leading workshops, engaging stakeholders, and producing clear, high-quality documentation.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing competing priorities and delivering results within deadlines.

NV1 security clearance.

Desirable

Knowledge of government security frameworks, including the PSPF and ISM, and the ability to ensure compliance in solution designs.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business Analysis, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.

Certifications in business analysis (e.g. CBAP, PMI-PBA) or cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).

Experience working in Federal government contexts.
