About the role:

As the Manager - Construction and Maintenance you will lead a large, diverse operational workforce responsible for construction of Capital Works civil projects, delivery of security services, and the maintenance of infrastructure and natural assets including land, buildings, parks and landscaping, natural bushland, foreshore reserves, roads, paths, bridges, jetties, private streetlights, signs, bus shelters, drainage and car parks. These assets have a current replacement value of $3.4 billion.

This position is a unique opportunity for a motivated and experienced leader who will help shape a positive team culture, implement continuous improvement initiatives and infrastructure maintenance strategies and make a tangible impact on improving the quality of life our community.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage, lead and mentor a large, multidisciplinary team to be accountable and to provide outstanding customer service, meet their team goals, timelines and targets.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive workplace culture that supports staff development, wellbeing, and high performance.
  • Exercise a high degree of autonomy in the development and control of planned and reactive maintenance programs.
  • Oversee the delivery of construction and maintenance programs, ensuring works are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Influence and contribute to broader asset management planning and cross-functional collaboration across the organisation.

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other relevant area
  • High level of communication skills to deal with internal and external customers and a willingness to make a difference to improve the quality of life for our community
  • Demonstrated experience in management of a multi-disciplinary team to successfully deliver outcomes
  • Knowledge of Local Government infrastructure
  • Experience in management of Local Government infrastructure
  • Ability to manage the political interface of Local Government
  • A satisfactory National Police Certificate
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence
  • Ideally supported by post-graduate qualifications in Management

The salary for this position will be from $167,623.49 - $197,759.23 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
