The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.

What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.

We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.

We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.

The work area

This role sits within the Performance and Evaluation Group 3 (PEG3) directorate, which works with agencies in the Education, Training, Justice, Police, Road Safety and Legal Services areas to provide advice to Government on agency funding, budget management, policy and performance.

The opportunity

We are looking for innovative, proactive and collaborative individuals who thrive on critical thinking and finding solutions to complex problems to join us and make a difference for Western Australia.

Our Principal Analysts are at the centre of providing evidence-based financial and policy advice to the WA Government.

In this role, you will:

• provide financial analysis and policy advice to Government on business cases, budget and Cabinet submissions, policy proposals and the performance of relevant agencies, with a particular lens on ensuring value for money outcomes.
• support and advise partner agencies on budget, funding, performance and Government processes on a day-to-day-basis.
• work as part of a team, across Treasury and Finance, and with other agencies to contribute to whole of government processes, such as the State Budget, and to support Senior Executive to meet Treasury and Finance’s goals.

This opportunity is to fill one Permanent-Full Time position for immediate filling, however this process may be used to fill future, similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise across Treasury and Finance within the next 12 months.
