About the role:
Join Anglicare Central Queensland a Peer Worker – Carer Support, where your lived experience will help empower and support carers of those facing suicidal crises. You'll lead peer groups, share resources, and connect carers to the help they need.
What will a typical day look like?
- Facilitate peer support groups, fostering a safe and supportive environment for carers.
- Provide individual guidance to carers, including oping strategies, safety planning and self care techniques.
- Assist carers in accessing appropriate services and resources
- Build and maintain relationships with local organisations to strengthen support networks.
- Keep accurate and confidential records in line with organisational policies.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Certificate IV/Diploma in AOD/Mental Health/Peer work or tertiary qualifications in social science
- Personal experience in providing support to someone during suicidal crisis or following a suicide attempt
- Understanding of the Queensland Mental Health Act 2016, National Standards for Mental Health Services 2010; National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce 2013; as well as other relevant laws and legislation

Other Requirements:
- Full COVID-19 Vaccination
- Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
- Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
