An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Network Architect to support a major Defence ICT transformation initiative. This role will lead the design and delivery of an alternative secure carriage solution, enhancing network redundancy and strategic connectivity across Defence’s classified environments. We are offering this role initially as a 6 month contract, but can also offer it as a permanent engagement depending on your preference.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and integration of a secure alternative network provider solution into the broader Defence strategic network environment.

Conduct and facilitate technical workshops with internal Defence stakeholders and external providers to define solution requirements.

Develop comprehensive technical documentation including:

End-to-end operating models

Network designs and integration points

Technology roadmaps, including lifecycle management

Rollout and implementation plans aligned to program outcomes

Oversee delivery and technical assurance of the network solution by third-party providers.

Provide expert technical advice, resolve design and implementation issues, and ensure compliance with architectural standards.

Required Skills and Experience

You will bring extensive experience in high-assurance, secure network architecture, ideally within classified or Defence environments. You have strong stakeholder management skills and are confident in leading solution design from concept through to delivery.

Proven experience designing and implementing complex, secure network solutions.

Strong understanding of network architecture, security protocols, and high-availability systems.

Experience working with external service providers to deliver ICT solutions.

Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Australian citizenship and a current Positive Vetting clearance is required for the role.
