Who are we?

Marngarr Resource Centre Aboriginal Corporation (Marngarr) is the non-profit division of the broader Gumatj Group. Our role is to deliver essential services and develop sustainable enterprises within the community of Gunyangara which support the wellbeing and empowerment of individuals, families and broader Gumatj and Yolngu communities.

Gumatj people are the Traditional Owners of the Gunyangara community and various homelands throughout the Gove Peninsula. Gunyangara is located 15min from the township of Nhulunbuy.

The Position:

Marngarr is looking for a talented, engaging and motivated individual to grow and develop our Youth Services within the community of Gunyangara, including managing the daily operations of our Drop-In Centre.

The Youth Engagement Manager will be responsible for developing programs, initiatives and services for youth, including delivering a flexible range of daily activities at our Drop-In Centre.

Developing the capacity of our local Yolngu workforce to build their skills, confidence and capabilities to deliver youth services activities will be a key component of this role.

The Role:

Reporting to the Community Development Manager, the role will include:

Creating a safe space for young people to access each day. Ensuring all operations are safe and compliant with WHS regulations and internal risk framework.

Design and deliver a wide range of activities which support youth engagement, development and wellbeing. Factoring in key considerations such as logistics, budgets/resources available and coordinating with local stakeholders.

Manage Youth Services team to deliver daily program activities and support learning and development pathways for staff, including on the job training. Manage timesheets, leave requests, performance reviews and recruitment of staff.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth engagement initiatives, using data-driven insights to continuously improve outcomes

Facilitating Youth Forums and working collaboratively with Gumatj Elders and community leaders to assist with developing youth engagement strategies which support the unique needs and aspirations of Gunyangara

Assist with fundraising and grant management, including applying for grants, completing reporting and acquittals

Support the delivery of Marngarr’s Community Case Management reference group

What we Offer:

Salary between $85,000 to $95,000 + Super

Accommodation or accommodation allowance (up to $500/week)

Annual airfare assistance (up to $2500 per annum)

Experience Required:

3 to 5 years’ experience in delivery youth programs and activities, particularly for Indigenous Youth

Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, Education or Health Promotion

Significant experience engaging and working with First Nations communities to identify needs, implement relevant programs and services

Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies and best practices in community services sector

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build productive relationships with diverse stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to lead, support and empower dynamic and diverse teams

Working with Children’s Check (NT – Ochre Card); Full Driver’s License
