Join our team as a Landfill Remediation Adviser
Redland City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Landfill Remediation Adviser to join our Waste Planning team based in Cleveland. This is a key role for someone passionate about environmental management, project delivery, and making a real difference in the community.
About the role:
As the Landfill Remediation Adviser, you’ll play a vital role in the safe and sustainable management of closed landfills across Redland City. You'll be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing site inspections, emergency works, and remediation projects. Your technical expertise and leadership will help ensure compliance, safety, and environmental protection across multiple sites.
You’ll also contribute to strategic asset management, provide specialist advice, coordinate infrastructure upgrades, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Guided by our Values, your responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement Closed Landfill Management Plans
Manage environmental and geotechnical investigations, site remediation and monitoring
Provide expert advice on risk, emergency response, and remediation actions
Oversee infrastructure upgrades and contract management
Prepare detailed reports, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
What we're looking for:
Demonstrated experience managing landfill remediation or environmental projects
Strong contract management and project delivery skills
Expertise in environmental monitoring, geotechnical investigations, and emergency response
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
High-level written communication, report writing, and budget management
Strong computer literacy, including project and document management systems.
Eligibility
You'll hold a Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent.
You'll have a current Class C Drivers’ Licence.
