Our Organisation
Established in 1992, the Lower Blackwood Land Conservation District Committee (Lower Blackwood LCDC) is a not-for-profit, community-managed landcare organisation with a membership of stakeholders interested in sustainable agriculture, catchment management, biodiversity protection, and the health of rivers and wetlands in the Lower Blackwood and Scott River catchments.
Located in the southwest corner of Western Australia, our catchment is rich in biodiversity, has high-value assets, and productive agricultural land. It covers an area south of Margaret River, extending down to Augusta, and east to Nannup, and comprises producers from diverse industries, including dairy, beef, sheep, horticulture, viticulture, and other emerging enterprises.
With an office in Kudardup, the Lower Blackwood LCDC has developed and delivered projects aimed at improving land management practices and protecting biodiversity, soil, and water resources, including regenerative agriculture, feral animal monitoring and control, weed management, riparian fencing, and revegetation.
We collaborate with farmers, land managers, local governments, businesses, traditional owners, and other local and regional not-for-profit organisations to promote sustainable and productive agriculture, fostering a healthy and vibrant community.
