SERCUL is seeking a highly motivated person with experience in WA urban Natural Resource Management projects especially linked to community based landcare and/or river based management activities.
The Community Landcare Manager will facilitate the implementation of on-ground restoration Natural Resource Management (NRM) projects. The Manager will also support community groups and assist to coordinate volunteers in the wider SERCUL region (south of the river in the Perth Metropolitan Area).
The position requires well developed Natural Resource Management skills, a high level of stakeholder collaboration, an understanding of integrated catchment management, experience managing staff, experience writing grant applications and experience in working with community environment groups and volunteers.
To be considered for the position you must address the following Essential Selection Criteria:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in the area of environmental science, storm water management, wetland and/or river restoration, natural resource management or at least five years equivalent experience.
Experience with managing staff and volunteers, effectively demonstrating mentorship and facilitating communication processes.
Experience in the planning and implementation of on-ground NRM projects, including the identification of Western Australian plant species and common weeds.
Experience in writing environmental funding grant applications.
Ability to engage, and work effectively with, a wide range of stakeholders including community environment groups.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops.
Sound time management and organisational skills
Sound computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office suite products.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Possession of current C class manual driver’s license.
Desirable Criteria:
Technical experience with planning and implementing storm water, wetlands and/or river restoration projects.
Ability to use GIS software and datasets for natural resource management.
