The City of Melville is seeking an experienced and professional People and Culture Officer to join our team. This role presents a valuable opportunity for a motivated HR professional to contribute to a dynamic and future-focused organisation, supporting key business functions that impact our people, culture and community outcomes.

You’ll provide effective and professional HR advice, guidance and support to our customers in line with organisational policies and procedures. You’ll be responsible for a range of HR business processes including but not limited to recruitment and selection, employee lifecycle activities, creating and maintaining accurate HR records, assisting in research and identifying and implementing process efficiencies for continuous improvement.

Location: City of Melville Civic Centre and Operations Centre

Salary: $79,100.18 - $92,331.34 pro-rata p.a. + 12% Super

Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

What You’ll Be Doing

As a key member of our People and Culture team, you’ll play an integral role in:

End-to-end recruitment and selection

Coordinating employment lifecycle processes including onboarding, probation, contract variations, exits and related documentation

Supporting the maintenance and accuracy of data within the City’s HRIS (Aurion) and contributing to regular HR reporting

Preparing and maintaining Position Descriptions and employee records

Providing advice and guidance on HR policies, procedures, awards and agreements

Supporting the development and review of HR-related policies and work instructions

Assisting with payroll liaison and ensuring relevant compliance is maintained

Contributing to a variety of HR-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Liaising with internal stakeholders and external providers (e.g., superannuation, novated leasing) on employee benefit programs

What We’re Looking For

A current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain

A qualification (or progression towards) in HR or a related field

At least 2 years’ experience in a Local Government environment – highly regarded

Demonstrated proficiency in recruitment, including use of online platforms such as Seek and LinkedIn and coordinating the full recruitment lifecycle

Knowledge of HR policies, industrial instruments and employee entitlements

High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively

Strong time management and organisational skills with ability to adapt

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities with a practical, solutions-focused approach

Well-developed interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset and a collaborative, proactive attitude

Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite; experience with Aurion or similar HRIS is advantageous
