The GM of Policy and Media for the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) is a high profile role that will shape technology policy and government and media engagement for the dynamic sector. You will work directly with the largest global tech brands in the world representing the collective interests of members to government in a dynamic environment. You will be leading policy debates and shaping legislation in areas including: skills, digital health, cyber security, AI, ESG and tech industry policy to name a few. The primary role/purpose as General Manager, Policy & Media is to provide direction, leadership and stakeholder advocacy (including in the media) toward the development of policy to facilitate the effective member engagement with government and industry. The core responsibilities are focussed on shaping and prosecuting AIIA’s policy agenda, building relationships with senior representatives of federal and state governments (ministerial and departmental) and key media contacts to further the interests of the AIIA’s members. The role will encompass research, public relations, including media relations, and member advocacy within the ICT industry. The role reports directly to the CEO and will work with members through managing AIIA policy advisory networks and State Councils to develop policy positions and submissions.
