We are seeking an experienced individual to manage a small team of support workers and, along with this team, to provide support to a man in his thirties. He enjoys the company of family and close friends, having a laugh, and volunteering his time in the community. He is known for his love of the outdoors; picnics, bush walking, camping and sailing.
He has limited verbal skills however is intelligent, perceptive and a keen observer of life. He is surrounded by a strong informal support system and social framework that includes his family and informal networks, who play a central role in his life, providing encouragement, guidance and oversight.
About the Role
We are looking for a Supervising Team leader who is able to manage a small team of support workers whilst ensuring the implementation of plans, routines and protocols are implemented and followed. The role requires a high attention to detail and experience with both disability support and team management. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the young man and his family.
As the Supervising Team Leader, you will:
- Work in partnership with the person, their family, and informal supports to provide meaningful capacity-building and self-directed/family-directed support.
- Provide support to the person with their communication, championing their multiple, complex, communication strategies.
- Provide supervision, leadership, training and mentoring (including performance management) to a team of support workers, ensuring consistency in person-centred and developmental practices.
- Provide support to the person with daily activities such as personal care, household tasks and social and community participation.
- Oversee administrative tasks, including rostering, developing and maintaining well established protocols, training documents and other documentation in consultation with family, and maintaining compliance with NDIS and WHS standards.
- Oversee maintenance of the home, ensuring that the home and living environment is safe, attractive, clean, hygienic and welcoming.
- Liaise with informal supporters and other formal supports who play important roles in the person’s life.
Hours
This is a part-time, casual role. Hours will be variable and fluctuate based on the requirements of the man and his support team.
- A minimum of 45 hours per fortnight; additional hours available, and
- Between 1 and 3 inactive overnight shifts per fortnight.
- Flexibility / availability are required to cover shifts when staff are on leave.
Pay Rate
- Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm shift - $42.75 per hour
- Monday to Friday 8pm - 6am shift - $47.88 per hour
- Saturday - $59.85 per hour
- Sunday - $76.95 per hour
- Public Holidays - $94.05 per hour
- Sleepover allowance $120.00 per shift
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience providing direct support to individuals within the disabilities or communities sectors or a related sector.
- Demonstrable experience in managing staff (direct reports) and small teams including supervision and oversight, performance management, mentoring and continuous development.
- Experience working with people who have complex behavioural needs.
- Strong administrative skills including document management and staff rostering.
- Computer literacy with experience using general office and administrative software.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours support.
- NDIS Worker Screening clearance.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Car, driver's license and insurance.
- Completion of the NDIS Quality, Safety, and You module.
