Willoughby City Council is seeking a Strategic Property Specialist with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to support the management and strategic development of Council’s diverse property portfolio. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence long-term asset strategies, contribute to innovative property initiatives, and ensure transparent, compliant management of leases, licences, acquisitions, and disposals — all while helping shape the sustainable use of public land for our community.

About the Role
As a Strategic Property Specialist, you will:
Support preparation, monitoring, and delivery of the property portfolio budget.
Proactively manage legal and financial issues to ensure timely resolution.
Review property assets and contribute to long-term strategic planning with commercial and social considerations.
Develop and implement strategic property initiatives, including sales, leasebacks, and divestments.
Investigate revenue-generating opportunities within legislative and policy frameworks.
Prepare reports, policies, and correspondence for leadership and Council on property initiatives and transactions.
Represent Council as owner on strata committees and ensure compliance with operational policies and regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and foster strong project, financial, and contract management skills within the team.
What You’ll Bring
Tertiary qualification in Property, Business, Law, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in property management, urban planning, or similar, preferably in government.
Strong financial and budget management skills, including experience identifying and developing income-generating opportunities
Proven ability to review property portfolios and deliver development strategies, including acquisitions, disposals, and redevelopment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and property management systems, with strong analytical and data interpretation skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and within teams, meet tight deadlines and contribute to organisational improvements
Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence
Desirable
Experience in local government or public sector property management
