The Beechworth Correctional Centre is a minimum-security facility with a focus on preparing individuals for release and successful reintegration back into society. It offers various working industries with the men given the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will effectively link them to employment on release. When not engaged in work, the men attend rehabilitative programs to address their offending behaviour, engage in education and visits whilst many also engage in recreation and community assistance programs.
About the Role:
The position of Assessment and Transition Coordinator is situated within the Programs Team at each prison.
The Assessment and Transition Coordinator undertakes prisoner risk assessments using the approved CV assessment instrument, facilitates the parole application processes including liaison with the Adult Parole Board and Community Correctional Services and provides a range of support and services to assist prisoners to transition into, through and out of prison.
Some of your other duties will include:
- Participating in the Case Management Review Meetings.
- Liaison and provision of assistance to external service providers.
- Direct liaison with prisoners and prison staff regarding the outcome of risk assessments and parole applications.
About You:
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated understanding of transition and reintegration issues and needs of prisoners.
- Demonstrated ability to administer risk assessment tools with individual prisoners.
- Demonstrated capacity or aptitude to work with clients who are difficult to engage individually and in group work settings.
Qualifications:
- Experience in and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment.
